World War 1 military technology
The 19th century was the time when Military technology advanced the most. World War 1 introduced a new method of fighting. World war 1 was fought way differently then the Battle of Waterloo and during the Ancient time period because it was no longer close combat. Warfare took place in the trenches. The trenches were Doug eighteen feet in the ground with the new creation of the machine gun placed on top. The trenches were like the walls of Jericho from the Ancient times, but they were more highly advanced. The trenches provided protection to the soldiers while also being able to fire the machine gun constantly through the battle. The machine gun made battle extremely dangerous but also effective because it could fire 400 rounds of bullets in under a minute. But the machine gun made it nearly impossible for the soldiers to cross the battlefield because they would get shot instantly by the machine gun. Poison gas was also used, but it was more efficient in World War 2. Trenches and the machine gun helped progress new guns and the trenches influenced new protection strategies for soldiers to be safe, but to also be able to battle. Trenches changed the way battles were fought because warfare was fought between trenches instead of fighting in the middle of the battlefield.
